 Word of the Week:  Camouflage

Did you Know?:  Camouflage reached the English language during World War 1, when the art of concealing objects from the enemy was considerably developed.  It is of French origin, a derivative of the verb camoufler ‘disguise,’ which came from Italian camuffare ‘disguise, trick.’

As you start another busy week, remember not to try and blend in or conceal yourself, but stand out in the crowd and don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in.  Don’t let anyone try to get you down for being your true self, you are important and meant to stand out.

  Fun Facts to help start your week: Word of the Week:   Cartoon Word Origins:  The word cartoon comes via French for carton and from Italian cartone, which meant literally ‘strong heavy paper, pasteboard’ (it was a derivative of carta ‘paper,’ which came from Latin charta, source also of English card, carton, chart and charter). Its meaning was in due course transferred to the preliminary sketches made by artists on such paper, the original and for nearly two centuries the only sense of the word in English.  Its application to comic drawings in newspapers and magazines began in the 1840s.   Blog Post #3 November 9, 2025 Hello and welcome to my weekly blog. This week I wanted to change things up and not only discuss my journey with PNES, but also talk about a topic I feel like a lot of us struggle to understand or identify with.  The topic for this week that I am talking about is individuality or being authentic to who you are meant to be.  This topic is important to me for several reasons, but mostly because I have struggled for years to figure out who I am and where my place in society is.  Until recently I didn’t really understand my unique, one of a kind identity or that we’re all built differently and should express our individualism.   To get us started on the topic of individuality or being “one of a kind”, I want to begin with “what defines someone’s individualism?”.  Is there really one singular definition to explain what individuality looks like or is it based on a multitude of factors.  I believe that everyone is uniq...
